the wrestler

i haven't see a movie this good in a long time. who would have thought that a movie about a washed out wrestler would have such emotional weight. the story of a man of past glory, living with the burdens of today, with nothing in the future. rourke, the wrestler, plays the part with such convincing power. how often do we live in the past, with nothing to look forward to but that past. i guess in a way, we are all a little like that. we think about the great times in our life, and hold on to that until the next great moment comes by. it is difficult to live like that, especially when that one great last moment was so long ago. life is sure tough, and it doesn't get easier with more life experience. i think that as we a forced to continue in time with our life, we learn to value the everyday, to seize what opportunities come up, and we just have to push forward. anyways, great film. now i can see why it won so many awards.

nap time

aimee had a very long weekend. we went to see star trek on friday with some friends. i must say that the early reviews were steller, and the movie still exceeded expectations! on saturday aimee hosted an anne of avonlea tea party...that is...anne with an "e". i unfortunately was at the office and didn't get the pleasure of attending. church on sunday was good, with a lesson on vision. vision for the future, vision for the present. when i think of vision i think of inventing, or creating. perhaps, vision to create something that the everyday can benefit from. aimee is now all tired out from the weekend as she begins to enter a full week...a week where she will have to work all five days of the work week. here we go.

mother's day 2009

happy mother's day. i appreciate my mom...both back when she was raising me, when she was raising me from afar in college and law school, and now as a number one supporter in both my work, marriage and other endeavors. she is one cool chick. i saw these little ceramic measuring cups at anthopologie the other day and decided to pick them up for mom for mother's day. they remind me of her because growing up she use to paint a lot of ceramics to fire and glaze. she always chose either swans or ducks. so to my mom...quack quack and happy mother's day.
